Three additional LWSD students receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship

Nearly 800 additional distinguished students recognized nationwide

Redmond, Wash. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced this week that three additional Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students will receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships:

  • Zara Dobrev, Juanita High School – National Merit University of Miami Scholarship
  • Rachel Kelley, Lake Washington High School – National Merit Occidental College Scholarship
  • Edison Wheeler, Nikola Tesla STEM High School – National Merit Brigham Young University Scholarship

These three LWSD students are among nearly 800 additional students who will receive these college-sponsored scholarships. They join more than 2,900 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June, including Zachary Lee McKay from Lake Washington High School.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among Finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
